Hotbrod got its start at the beginning of 2008, when two friends were attending the Grand National Roadster Show.
Melissa Jerger and Tina Seliga were in Pomona in support of Melissa's husband Doug (of Squeeg's Kustoms), whose '32 Ford roadster was in contention for the AMBR award, and while walking the floor, they were looking for a souvenir t-shirt or tank top, but were disappointed at the limited offerings. Realizing that they were in a unique position with many talented friends in the art and design arena, an idea to create their own line of hot rod apparel for women was born.
After a few cocktails and throwing around some ideas they came up with Hotbrod, Hot Rod Apparel for Hot Rod Brods. As Tina and Melissa would always go to various shows looking for the perfect shirt or tank with a bitchin design of a car, it was a given that killer hot rod artwork would be the main feature of their wares. Drawing on top talent, their logo was designed by Jimmy Smith of Jimmy’s Hot Rod Design and the cars were rendered by Michael Miernik of Miernik Design, and printed on high quality tanks and tees.
Hotbrod has many ideas in the works for apparel to come, and we hope you'll check in often. |
